Alicia Santamarķa
OUTREACH AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
RAISING A READER
As outreach and development manager for Raising A Reader®, Alicia works with community leaders around the country to replicate and grow the Raising A Reader early literacy program.
Prior to coming to Raising a Reader in August 2007, Alicia was manager of the schools program at the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center. There she worked with schools across San Mateo County on improving school climate and building sustainable conflict resolution programs. In addition to over 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Alicia also worked for the City of San Mateo as a management analyst in the City Manager's Office and Police Department.
Alicia was first trained in mediation and conflict resolution in 1992 and especially enjoys training and public speaking. She holds a master's degree in communication from the University of New Mexico and a bachelor's degree in political science from Syracuse University.
As the mother of two young children and a life-long lover of books, Alicia finds working at Raising a Reader a particularly meaningful experience.
