Jennifer Kane
Donor Engagement Officer
As a donor engagement officer, Jennifer provides philanthropic support to a variety of donor advised funds and is committed to creating an effective, collaborative grantmaking experience for fund advisors.
Jennifer has 20 years of management experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors in Silicon Valley. Most recently she served as marketing and communications director for the environmental organization, Acterra: Action for a Sustainable Earth. Prior to that she consulted with a variety of nonprofit agencies and foundations in the following fields: education, peace-making and health. Her clients included NASA, The Poizner Family Foundation, Ohlone Elementary School, the Alliance for Middle East Peace, and the Parkinson’s Institute. In the late 1990’s she served as director of communications with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and worked for 12 years in marketing communications and finance positions at Hewlett-Packard.
She holds master’s in business administration from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa/summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s of arts degree in economics and philosophy.
In the 1980s, during a two-year period of working in Jerusalem, where she learned both Hebrew and Arabic, Jennifer became involved in some of the early Israeli-Palestinian dialogue and reconciliation groups. For the past 15 years, Jennifer has lived with her husband, daughter and son in a neighborly, family-oriented cottage cluster in Palo Alto, where she has come to fully appreciate the wise proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
