JESSICA RIVERA
MARKETING OFFICER
As marketing officer, Jessica is responsible for developing and managing all of the internal and external marketing and communications activities for Silicon Valley Community Foundation. She works with each of the community foundation’s department heads to promote consistent branding and messaging of the community foundation.
Prior to coming to the community foundation, Jessica fulfilled a life-long dream of putting her bicultural and bilingual skills to use in the greater world community via five months of volunteer work at a children’s orphanage in Central America. She previously served as a program specialist for FIRST 5 Santa Clara County where she helped implement a three-year $9 million dollar local neighborhoods initiative which provided targeted programs, services and activities to children under age 6 and their families. A true Silicon Valley-ite, Jessica also has marketing and public relations experience at two start-up companies and with multiple high tech clients including Cisco Systems and Altera Corporation.
A young immigrant from Mexico, Jessica moved to the Bay Area where she has lived almost her entire life. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s of arts degree in English from Santa Clara University and also holds a second bachelor’s degree in theology. When not working at the community foundation, she can usually be found practicing the art of food critic at one of the Bay Area’s many fantastic restaurants, doing volunteer work within the Latino community, or plotting her next tropical vacation adventure.
