KAREN DEMERS
VICE PRESIDENT, FACILITIES AND SERVICES
As vice president of facilities and services, Karen is busy overseeing the development of the community foundation’s first headquarters in Mountain View, California. She manages the community foundation’s buildings, community conference spaces, and the staff who provide organization-wide support.
Karen joined Community Foundation Silicon Valley in 2000 and served as the director of administration, overseeing human resources, information technology, and facilities.
Karen graduated from San José State University with a bachelor of arts in economics. Prior to coming to the community foundation, Karen worked as the litigation resources manager at a large law firm in San José.
As a former Junior League member, Karen has developed a great interest in San José and in serving some of its many needs. In particular, she has volunteered with the Independent Aging Program doing volunteer tax preparation.
In addition to volunteering, Karen is an enthusiastic San José Sharks fan and also enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading in her free time.
As a third-generation Californian (she grew up in Saratoga with her family and twin sister), Karen values the region’s proximity to the best of California. Her list of favorites includes beaches, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, the wine country, Mendocino, the great California weather, good restaurants, bookstores and shopping.
