MARI ELLEN REYNOLDS LOIJENS
CHIEF OF STAFF / CHIEF OF DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS

As chief of staff and chief of development and communications, Mari Ellen serves as the CEO’s point person on internal operations and external affairs and oversees Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s fundraising, marketing and communications efforts. A seasoned fundraising professional with more than a decade of experience in the field, Loijens joined Community Foundation Silicon Valley as director of development in 2004. Under her leadership, CFSV’s development team raised over $500 million. Previously, she was director of development at Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, where she had managed the development department since 2000 and had raised $11 million annually for Second Harvest. Prior to the food bank, Loijens held senior level fundraising positions at various public benefit corporations in New York including director of major gifts and planned giving at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, director of development at White Plains Hospital Center, and director of development at Saint Michael’s Academy. Loijens is a Certified Fund Raising Executive, or CFRE.

A graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, Loijens supports her alma mater’s fundraising efforts as co-head class agent. She was the 2007 president of the board of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley Chapter and served as co-chair for National Philanthropy Day 2004. As an active member of the Junior League of San José, she co-chaired their volunteer recognition luncheon in 2006 and is currently the vice president of membership. She has been selected to serve as the 2009-2010 president of the Junior League.

Mari Ellen was born in Okinawa, Japan and grew up on the East Coast. She lives in Mountain View with her husband and adopted dog and cat.
