John Michael Sobrato has been involved with the family-owned Sobrato Development Companies for over 20 years. He currently manages operations of the firm’s ten million square-foot commercial portfolio in the Bay Area and 7,500-unit residential portfolio in the western states. Sobrato Development is consistently ranked among the largest and most active local development firms in Silicon Valley with clients including Apple Computer, Applied Materials, Nvidia, Siebel Systems and the County of Santa Clara.

John is highly involved in the local community and currently serves on the board of regents of Santa Clara University, and the boards of Bellarmine College Preparatory, American Musical Theater San José and the Tech Museum of Innovation. He has also served as past president and is an emeritus board member of KTEH Public Television, Catholic Charities of San José, the San José Repertory Theater and the Board of Fellows of Santa Clara University. John and his wife Abby have two teen-aged sons, John and Jeff, who attend Bellarmine College Preparatory.
