Cristina Cortes
Grantmaking Assistant
As the grantmaking assistant, Cristina supports the needs of the vice president of grantmaking as well as the grantmaking department as a whole.
Cristina graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor’s in business administration and a minor in Philippine studies; she is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society which recognizes business students. During college Cristina volunteered for several nonprofits in the San Francisco area; it was her experiences at these organizations which sparked her passion for serving others. Cristina pursued this passion and interned at the American Red Cross, and what was then the Palo Alto Chapter, in the fund development department. During her internship she discovered her interest for fund development and philanthropy.
Prior to working at the community foundation, Cristina served as a community relations specialist at the American Red Cross, Bay Area Chapter, through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. During her time at the Red Cross she prepared vulnerable populations in the Bay Area for disasters by forming relationships with strategic community partners and spreading disaster preparedness education and awareness.
Cristina is a Bay Area native and in addition to being a proud graduate of the University of San Francisco is an equally proud graduate of Saint Francis High School. In her spare time you will find her enjoying either the company of her family, close friends or a great book.
