Michelle Sioson Hyman
Inititative Officer, School Readiness
Michelle Sioson Hyman is an initiative officer for school readiness at Silicon
Valley Community Foundation. Through this initiative, Michelle works with community partners to ensure
that San Mateo County's youngest children grow up healthy with strong family bonds in safe, supportive
communities - keys to children's success in school and in life.
Michelle brings over a decade of training and technical assistance work to this
position, along with six years in early childhood development programming as program manager for Raising
A Reader and community civic engagement coordinator and program officer for First 5 Santa Cruz and
San Mateo counties.
Michelle received her bachelor of arts in medical anthropology and English from Case
Western Reserve University. In 2001, Michelle obtained her master's in public health, concentrating in health
policy and administration, at Yale University.
Michelle enjoys traveling, rock climbing, scuba diving, yoga, hiking and searching for the best bakery ever. She currently lives on the Peninsula with her husband, Joel, daughter, Cecelia and their dog, Miles.
