SUPPORT CHILE EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EFFORTS
We are closely monitoring the situation in Chile after an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck early Saturday, Feb. 27. Below is a list of organizations that are providing urgently needed disaster relief. Anyone can make a contribution.
Community foundation fund advisors can log-in to make grants out of their funds to the relief organizations recommended by the community foundation’s grantmaking staff listed under Community Connections.
We will add more organizations to the list as we receive more information. Your donation will provide much needed support to relief organizations responding to the earthquake in Chile.

Pan American Development Foundation – The Pan American Development Foundation, or PADF, is the natural disaster relief arm of the Organization of American States. PADF strives to empower disadvantaged people and communities in Latin America and the Caribbean. PADF works to achieve this through sustainable economic and social progress, strengthening their communities and civil society, and preparing for and responding to natural disasters and other humanitarian crises. Cash and in-kind assistance are needed so PADF and its on-the-ground partners may respond immediately to Chile’s most pressing needs. |

World Vision – World Vision works in nearly 100 countries around the globe, combating the root causes of poverty and responding quickly when disaster strikes. In the days immediately following the Feb. 27 earthquake, World Vision distributed blankets and water containers in Santiago and flew a team of relief experts to Concepcion to conduct a rapid assessment and verify the safety of staff and community members who had been cut off from communication or road access. Prior to the quake, World Vision had prepositioned supplies in a Santiago warehouse, and the agency plans to purchase additional high-priority items in country. These goods were to be rushed to communities in the Concepcion area as soon as air transport could be arranged. The agency plans to bring in additional supplies from its regional warehouses, including one in Bolivia. |
