Community Foundation Managed Scholarship Funds
The application deadline for most of our Community Foundation Managed scholarships is mid-February. We encourage students to thoroughly review the program descriptions and eligibility criteria to identify the scholarships for which they are qualified.

Crain Educational Grants Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000 per award
Number of Awards: Up to 10
- Current graduating senior or graduate of a public or private high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County
- United States citizen
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3
- Demonstrated community involvement over a period of several years
This program was established in 1987 in memory of Dr. R. Carter Crain and Mildred E. Crain, through Mrs. Crain's will. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable high school graduates to pursue courses of study they would otherwise be unable to follow due to limited financial means.

Curry Award for Girls and Young Women
Scholarship Amount: $1,000 per award
Number of Awards: Up to 10
- Young woman age 16 to 26
- Current resident of San Mateo County
- United States citizen OR legal resident
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- Current graduating senior, a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.
This fund was established by Eleanor Williams Curry, an active civic leader on the Peninsula. The award is for young women who are self-motivated, need financial support and attempt to achieve despite tremendous obstacles.

Eustace-Kwan Family Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000
Number of Awards: Up to 20
- Current resident of San Mateo County or northern Santa Clara County (Daly City through Mountain View) OR previous Eustance-Kwan Family Foundation Scholarship recipient
- Current graduating high school senior planning to attend a two-or four-year college or vocational school OR current college freshman (up to 29 semester or 44.8 quarter units or as defined by school of attendance) or sophomore (31 – 60 semester or 44.9 – 89.9 quarter units or as defined by school of attendance)
- A cumulative grade point average between 3.0 and 3.70 on a 4.0 scale (un-weighted GPA)
- Demonstrated school and / or extra-curricular activities (volunteer or jobs)
- Demonstrated financial need
- United States citizen OR legal resident
This scholarship was established in 2006 through a gift from the Eustace-Kwan Family Foundation. This program is designed to enhance scholarship opportunities for promising high school and first- or second-year college students pursuing higher education at an accredited two- or four-year college or vocational school. The selection committee looks for students who are focused, able to articulate clear goals, determined to succeed in their chosen field of study and career, and whose educational opportunities will be increased by financial assistance. In addition, the selection committee will take into consideration the overall quality of the personal statement and whether student’s activities align with stated goals. Special consideration will be given to working students.

Hazel Reed Baumeister Scholarship Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000
Number of Awards: Up to 15
- Current graduating senior or graduate of a public or private high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County
- United States citizen
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3
- Demonstrated community involvement over a period of several years
This program was established in 2001 through the trust of Mrs. Hazel Reed Baumeister, a longtime resident of Burlingame. The purpose of the scholarship is to support high school graduates of high academic achievement who would be unable to pursue higher education without financial assistance.

Ruppert Educational Grant Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000
Number of Awards: Up to 30
- United States citizen OR legal resident
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- Current graduating senior or graduate of a public or private high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County
- Applicant must demonstrate community involvement
- Applicant must demonstrate academic promise and GPA improvement during high school years (late bloomers)
- Maximum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale
The Ruppert Educational Grant Program was established through a trust and bequest agreement by Ralph Hale Ruppert and Lenore Martha Ruppert, in memory of their mothers. Scholarships are awarded to "late-bloomers:" those students who show academic promise and improvement during the high school years, but are unlikely to receive other scholarships because of their low GPA's.

Sand Hill Scholars Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to $10,000 (paid over four years, must meet renewal requirements)
Number of Awards: Up to 2
- Eighth-grade graduate of the Ravenswood City School District (documentation must accompany the application)
- Current graduating senior attending a high school in San Mateo County or northern Santa Clara County (Daly City through Mountain View)
- United States citizen OR legal resident
The Sand Hill Scholars Program was created by Thomas W. and Susan B. Ford, and is underwritten by the Sand Hill Foundation of Menlo Park. Preference is given to students who have shown motivation and leadership, have overcome hardships to remain in school, or have been involved in educational, job-related, or community activities outside the school environment.

Bobette Bibo Gugliotta Memorial Scholarship for Creative Writing
Scholarship Amount: $2,000 for an undergraduate; $1,000 for a graduating high school senior
Number of Awards: One college student award and one high school student award.
- Current graduating senior or graduate of a public or private high school in San Mateo County or northern Santa Clara County (Daly City through Mountain View)
- Accepted to or awaiting acceptance to a two- or four-year college or university
- United States citizen
This fund was established in honor of Bobette Bibo Gugliotta, author of several books, and creator of a story (when she was 11 years old), about a mouse who later became Mickey. The Bobette Bibo Gugliotta Memorial Scholarship for Creative Writing is designated for the educational benefit of students majoring in the field of creative writing and who have demonstrated creative writing ability.

The Marie A. Calderilla Scholarship
A scholarship for female, community college students.
Scholarship Amount: Up to $20,000 (paid over three or four years, must meet renewal requirements)
Number of Awards: Number of Awards: Up to 10
- San Mateo or Santa Clara County graduating high school senior or current San Mateo or Santa Clara resident planning to attend a college in the San Mateo County Community College District (Canada College, San Mateo Community College, and Skyline Community College)
- Female student, pursuing first undergraduate degree or certificate
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- Serious about improving their life through education
- United States citizen or legal resident
This program was established in 2007 through a generous gift from Marie A. Calderilla who believed deeply in the importance of education. The purpose of this scholarship is to enable women to pursue courses of study that they would otherwise be unable to follow due to limited financial means. Students may be graduating seniors or current residents of San Mateo or Santa Clara counties planning to attend a college in the San Mateo County Community College District (Canada College, San Mateo Community College, and Skyline Community College). The selection committee looks for academic promise, women who have demonstrated that they are committed to obtaining an education and personal characteristics such as honesty, good judgment and perseverance. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years (provided students maintain part-time or full-time enrollment status, a 2.5 GPA and have established an educational plan). Students enrolled in a four-year degree program at a San Mateo County Community College District college are eligible for up to 4 years of funding.

Dr. James L. Hutchinson and Evelyn Ribbs Hutchinson Medical School Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: Up to $2,000
Number of Awards: One per year
- United States citizen
- Must be a college senior and accepted to medical school, or currently enrolled full-time in an accredited medical school program.
- Applicant must demonstrate personal motivation for excellence in both character and academic achievement. Personal integrity, as exemplified by leadership, community involvement and concern for others will be considered.
- Must have graduated from a high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County or have lived in that same area during high school.
The Hutchinson Medical School Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate excellence in both character and academic achievement.

Huang Leadership Development Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: Up to $10,000
Number of Awards: 10
- Applicant must be a current employee OR past employee OR a legal dependent of a current or past employee of SYNNEX Corporation or its subsidiaries who left the company in good standing.
- Applicant must be a current employee OR past employee OR a legal dependent of a current or past employee that worked for SYNNEX Corporation or its subsidiaries for a minimum of three years at the time of award.
- Applicant must demonstrate leadership qualities through activities in school, community or social service activities.

Applicant must plan to attend, have been accepted into OR be enrolled on a full-time basis in an undergraduate or masters program in a U.S. or Canadian four-year college/university ranked in the top 100 according to the following lists:

- The Huang Leadership Development Scholarship was established by Bob and Lily Huang in recognition of the loyalty and dedication of SYNNEX employees worldwide. Bob, founder, past CEO and past chairman of the board of SYNNEX Corporation, and Lily wish to recognize those who worked and contributed to the success of SYNNEX by providing scholarship opportunities to support those employees, past employees and dependents who choose to further their personal leadership development through higher education for the future prosperity of the globalized world. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership qualities as evidenced by their personal statement, letters of reference, school and community activities, and financial need.

The Harold Johnson Law Enforcement Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: Up to $3,000
Number of Awards: Up to 5
- Must have declared a program of study in law enforcement (or criminal justice, administration of justice or police science) and plan on pursuing a career in police work, corrections or other criminal justice fields. This scholarship does not apply to law school students.
- Must have completed at least one year of college work in required major
- Current resident of San Mateo or Santa Clara counties
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
The Harold Johnson Law Enforcement Scholarship was established in memory of Police Chief Harold Johnson to provide scholarship support to students who plan on pursuing a career in police work, corrections, or other criminal justice fields. These scholarships are designed to recognize students who demonstrate a passion for public service, academic potential, leadership, and financial need.

The Kumin Scholars Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to $18,000 (paid over four years, must meet renewal requirements)
Number of Awards: Up to 15
- United States citizen OR legal resident
- Graduate from a high school in San Mateo County or Santa Clara County or a resident of San Mateo County or Santa Clara County who completed a GED Program and received a California High School Equivalency Certificate.
- Currently enrolled (part-time or full-time) in a community college
- Completion of at least 20 graded semester or quarter units by the end of spring 2011
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Plans to transfer to a four-year college or university in 2013 or later
- Demonstrated financial need
This program was established in 2004 through the trust of Margrit Kumin. It was her desire to dedicate part of her estate to help young people pursue higher education. The purpose of this scholarship, established in her memory, is to support current community college students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution.

The Odette Moren Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: Up to $10,000
Number of Awards: Up to 8
- Must be a current resident of East Palo Alto OR have resided in East Palo Alto while in high school
- Must be planning to enroll OR currently enrolled on a full-time basis at a four-year college or university
- Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, if a current graduating high school senior OR a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5, if a current college student
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- United States citizen or eligible non-citizen (eligible non-citizens include United States legal residents and AB 540* students)
The Odette Moren Scholarship program was established through a generous gift from the Odette R. Moren Living Trust. It was her desire to dedicate part of her estate to provide scholarship opportunities to students from East Palo Alto.

Peninsula Regent Charitable Foundation Educational Grant Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000
Number of Awards: Up to 12
- Current employee of the Peninsula Regent or the dependent of an employee who has worked at Peninsula Regent for at least 90 days as of February 22, 2012.
- Enrolled in courses including, but not limited to, those offered at community colleges, adult schools, night schools, colleges and universities
- Demonstrated financial need
- United States citizen OR legal resident
This program was made possible through the generous contributions of the residents of The Peninsula Regent. The program has been created to help employees and their dependents pursue their educational goals.
