Corporate Philanthropy Manager

Hoa TranAs a corporate philanthropy manager for business services, Hoa assists corporations with their philanthropic grantmaking and programs. Bringing in her past professional experience working for service providers and foundations, she is committed to continue helping individuals, nonprofit organizations and corporations serve and enhance their communities.

Before joining Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Hoa served as program officer at the Ventura County Community Foundation where she managed the competitive grants program for several donor advised and field of interest funds. Additionally, she served on several community committees and task forces assisting with program planning, development of initiatives, and strategic planning including Cuídate Ventura County (an HIV/AIDS taskforce), the Financial Literacy Council, and the Farm Worker Housing Task Force. Prior to her work with community foundations, Hoa worked with the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and a number of social services organizations in San José and Mountain View.

Hoa’s career of twelve years with nonprofit organizations has included eight years in philanthropy and grantmaking. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Scripps College, and subsequently became a Watson Fellow conducting an independent research study on Vietnamese acculturation in various countries. Hoa earned her master’s degree from the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UCSD, where she was a Schoepflin Fellow. She is also a graduate of both the Mountain View Leadership Academy and the Ventura County Leadership Academy.
