John F. Hopkins is a founder of Hopkins & Carley, Northern California’s largest estate planning firm headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley.

As founder of the firm, he strongly believes it is his obligation to counsel his clients and his colleagues on the need to have a healthy community in which they and their families live. He urges clients to include charitable causes and nonprofit organizations in their planning, advising them that their legacy is not just the wealth they pass on, “but their values and wisdom.”

John received a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in 1954 and a law degree in 1957. After 10 years of practice in two other firms, he and three colleagues founded Hopkins & Carley in 1968.
