Rebecca Armstrong
Manager, Program and Special Projects, Raising A Reader
As manager of programs and special projects, Rebecca is responsible for providing technical and programmatic support to affiliates, leading efforts associated with national project management and helping to insure consistent high quality training and programming throughout the Raising A Reader network.
Prior to joining Raising A Reader, Rebecca served as director of literacy services for Reading Is Fundamental, the nation's largest nonprofit literacy organization. In that role, she was responsible for literacy initiatives including early childhood services, parent education programs, conference presentations and projects related to a multicultural initiative.
Before joining RIF, Rebecca served as a special education teacher at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD. During her time there, Rebecca taught students with mild to moderate disabilities in grades 2-7. Rebecca earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Towson University and completed her graduate studies in special education at Johns Hopkins University.
In Rebecca's spare time she enjoys reading, water sports and spending time with her husband, Steve and new daughter, Annabelle.
