Samantha Owen

Corporate Philanthropy Manager

As a Corporate Philanthropy Manager, Samantha actively manages an assigned portfolio of corporate advised funds. Her responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to fund advisors and being knowledgeable about the full scope of their grant making programs, including funding guidelines and criteria. Bringing in her past professional experience working for large corporations, she is committed to helping local corporations serve and enhance their global communities.

Prior to joining the community foundation, Samantha worked for HSBC Bank and it was during her eight-year international career with them, that she got the opportunity to combine her love for philanthropy with her career in finance when she joined their Corporate Social Responsibility team in the U.K.  This job changed her life as it gave her the opportunity to turn her passion into a full time job, helping over 100 nonprofits receive grants totaling in excess of $3M. and providing over 1,000 HSBC employees with volunteering opportunities.

Originally from London, England, Samantha has a bachelor of arts degree with honors in Business Studies and a bachelor of science degree in Finance.  She and her husband moved to California in 2010 where they are thoroughly enjoying the California way of life.  In her spare time Samantha is a keen walker and has put her love for walking to good use raising almost $20,000 for breast cancer charities by participating in charity walks in both San Francisco and London. Samantha is also a member of the Junior League of San Jose whose mission is closely aligned with that of the community foundation.
