Introducing our new magazine:
ONE Innovation through Philanthropy

We are excited to introduce the first issue of our new magazine ONE: Innovation Through Philanthropy.  ONE, arriving in your mailbox soon, will spotlight what’s working, identify challenges and inspire participation in the solutions.

Olympian Kerri Walsh and fellow fund advisor Dick Lavenstein discuss approaches to helping children. John W. Thompson, CEO of Symantec and a fund advisor with his wife Sandi, tells how corporate philanthropy can distinguish a company. Read about how the dream of accessible and affordable credit has the potential to make life a little easier in East Palo Alto.

A compelling reason for the creation of our community foundation was the recognition that San Mateo and Santa Clara counties compose a single region. Our goal is to think regionally in understanding the origins and trends of various issues while supporting strategies that take advantage of each community’s unique strengths.

We chose the name ONE to symbolize our unified community foundation, our unified community and our belief that we, as the human race, are all in this together. We hope ONE will bring forth solutions to inspire the individual and collective energy necessary to make our community a better place.

We have more than 1,500 funds committed to improving our community, nation and world.  We also partner and collaborate with many community leaders, nonprofits and professional advisors. Together, you help us identify crucial needs and bring diverse approaches and a shared commitment to act. “E Pluribus Unum,” declares our nation’s Great Seal: from many, one. We hope ONE will bring forth solutions to inspire the individual and collective energy necessary to make our community a better place.

ONE will be available in your mailbox and our web site. If you would like additional copies to share with friends and colleagues, please contact us at one@siliconvalleycf.org.
