SILICON VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
LEADERSHIP TEAM GROWS FURTHER
Appointments Continue from CEO and President
It has been 10 weeks since the doors opened at Silicon Valley Community Foundation and energy and expansion continue to be defining characteristics of the new community foundation. Silicon Valley Community Foundation is the result of two parent foundations merging together and now, is one of the largest community foundations in the nation, with more than $1.5 billion in assets under management and 1,400 philanthropic funds.
For the near future, the community foundation will continue the existing grantmaking programs of the parent foundations as it evaluates and plans future programs and initiatives. However, the community foundation is also expected to ultimately provide more than $190 million per year in grants through its charitable funds, its supporting organizations and the Community Endowment Fund. To support this expectation and lead the giving division, CEO and president Emmett D. Carson, Ph.D. appointed Eleanor Clement Glass to the role of chief giving officer.
“Eleanor is just the sort of visionary leader that we need as we build a community foundation that is a leading voice and catalyst for innovative solutions to the region’s most challenging problems,” said Emmett D. Carson, Ph.D. “She brings a wealth of leadership and a national reputation for excellence to her new role as chief giving officer.”
Additionally, the community foundation’s first vice president of development has also been appointed. Bheesham Sethi has more than 16 years of experience in institutional development and management, with key emphases in fundraising, financial management, grassroots organizing, staff management and program planning and development. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing individual giving, planned gifts, corporate donations and other fundraising efforts.
