Colonial Consulting Selected as Investment Advisor

This continues to be a time of progress as Silicon Valley Community Foundation moves forward to fulfill its mission to strengthen the common good, improve quality of life and address the most challenging problems in our community.

Since the start of the new community foundation, various board committees have been working with staff to consolidate service providers and integrate our donor services. Recently, the board’s investment committee completed a thorough request for proposal or RFP process to identify an investment consultant firm. Both parent foundations employed investment consultants, and as a result of the RFP process, Colonial Consulting, LLC was chosen as the investment consultant for Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

The role of the investment advisor is to work closely with staff and the investment committee to recommend and implement investment policy, asset allocation and investment manager selection, and to evaluate and monitor investment performance.

Board member and investment committee co-chair John M. Sobrato commented, “With this decision we have reached an important milestone in the integration process. The selection process included the parent foundations’ current advisors as well as other well-qualified investment advisory firms.  After a detailed review and evaluation, Colonial Consulting was selected as the firm best positioned to help the community foundation develop the world-class investment options that our donors expect.”

His co-chair and fellow board member Jane Williams added, “We would like to thank donors in advance for their patience during this ongoing time of integration. Colonial Consulting will play an important role in providing the community foundation’s donors with investment options to maximize their ability to support the causes they care about most.”

More details about the new investment options will be coming in the weeks and months ahead. There will be opportunities for fundholders to meet representatives from Colonial Consulting at forthcoming meetings. Future correspondence from us will provide answers to a variety of questions.
