Girls on the Edge

When a young girl first runs into trouble with the law, she arrives at a critical crossroads: she can continue along a destructive path or choose to follow a different one. Immediate, caring, expert intervention can help her to make the positive choice. Consistent, professional help can also help her stick with that choice when the “going gets rough” back in the real world.

On this tour we will visit the Girls Camp in San Mateo County’s newly opened Youth Services Center. We will talk with leaders from the county’s juvenile justice system and from Tracey’s Place of Hope, Youth & Family Enrichment Services and the YMCA to understand how the philosophy of restorative justice is helping girls make constructive choices and become valuable, contributing members of their communities.
