Business Services Associate (Full Time / Non Exempt)
JOB SUMMARY

Foundation Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley Community Foundation brings together the complementary

As a result, Silicon Valley Community Foundation emerges as a center for philanthropy providing
world-class services to donors and nonprofits and inspiring greater civic participation throughout
San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Services, the Business
Services Associate will assist a team dedicated to business relationships as well as support
the community foundation’s Corporate Advised Funds’(CAF) and Customized Philanthropy Services
clients’ programs. The community foundation partners with ~40 corporations, many of which offer
competitive grant programs.
Salary range: $16.83 - $20.19 per hour. (Approximately $35,000 - $42,000 annually, based on a 40-hour workweek) Wages to commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track applications to and grants made from the community foundation’s corporate advised funds.
Maintain necessary documentation in grantee files.
- Prepare corporate client and grantee correspondence, including grant award and decline letters,
grant agreements; electronically file copies of all such correspondence.
- Prepare detailed reports and spreadsheets concerning corporate advised fund grantmaking.
- Update grants database information in an accurate and timely manner.
- Track and manage grantee final reports.
- Act as liaison with the community foundation’s grants and gifts administration
staff concerning grant processing.
- Review grant proposals, grantee reports and requests for grant payments to ensure
all necessary documents are included.
- Review and edit grant proposal summaries for corporate advised funds.
- Help respond to daily inquiries from corporate donor advised funds, grantees, Customized
Philanthropy Services clients and other constituents.
- Develop and prepare presentations, including necessary supporting documentation.
- Develop and continually update procedures to enhance efficiency in corporate grant
processing and for the overall department.
- Track expenses and ensure accuracy of department budget.
- Assist in the coordination, set-up and clean-up for various meetings.
- Assist Business Services staff as needed to accomplish department goals.
Support the Communications and Development Division and Silicon Valley Community
Foundation meet its goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with Blackbaud data-base highly desirable.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
and ASP website database applications such as Cybergrants. Must be able to prepare
and merge letters in Word. Must be able to create and manage Excel spreadsheets for client purposes.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
- Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and proactively manage
work flow to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy, accept
responsibility and follow through on assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work with diverse people and groups in multicultural environments.
