SILICON VALLEY INDEX
STATE OF THE VALLEY CONFERENCE

Silicon Valley experienced a sixth consecutive year of productivity gains in 2007 that surpassed the previous highs from the dot com boom, but the growth spurt is offset by economic instability, according to the 2008 Silicon Valley Index from Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network.

This nationally recognized report measures the strength of the region’s economy and the health of the community, highlighting challenges and providing an analytical foundation for leadership and decision making.

Key Index findings and analysis about regional conditions were presented at the State of the Valley Conference, sponsored by the community foundation, on February 22. State of the Valley is a town hall-style meeting that brings together concerned citizens and stakeholders, thought leaders and opinion makers, journalists, our elected representatives, educators and academics to identify and discuss ways to strengthen our region.

Highlights from the State of the Valley conference aired on KTEH Public Television on February 29 and on KQED Public Radio on March 6 and 13. Audio clips available here.
