A NEW TRADITION Silicon Valley Community Foundation Regional Meeting October 15, 2008
Thank you to the more than 1,100 friends, donors, community organizations,
local leaders and other partners who joined us as we began a new tradition on Wednesday at our
first Regional Meeting.
The Regional Meeting also launched our Strengthen the Safety Net campaign.
This challenge grant will match dollar for dollar every donation made from now until Dec. 31, up
to $1 million dollars. For every $1 donated, the community foundation will send $2 into the community
to local agencies providing critical assistance to thousands of individuals and families in need.
This campaign is part of the community foundation's
grantmaking strategies, and could boost the
grants for "safety net" services to $3 million. Anyone can make a donation.
The program included remarks from board members and staff regarding the community
foundation's current progress, remaining work, new funding opportunities to address challenges facing
our community and investment strategies to maximize philanthropic effectiveness. Click on the links
