SVCF makes grants to nonprofit organizations that are large and small, old and new, local, regional, national and international.
We were proud to report that in 2017 we distributed nearly $1.3 billion in grants from all types of funds held at SVCF – from donor advised funds and corporate advised funds to supporting organizations and discretionary funds directed by our staff and approved by our board of directors. This level of giving is unprecedented among community foundations. Such generosity through a community foundation is a testament to the enormous generosity of our donors, corporate partners and others.
We are frequently asked, “Where do all those grants go?” We place importance on transparency, integrity, responsiveness and public accountability. So to respond to questions about SVCF’s donor advised funds, we issued a report in 2015 that answers some of the pervasive claims about donor advised funds with the realities we experience at SVCF. To complement this information, we have compiled a searchable catalog of the thousands of nonprofit organizations to which we made grants in 2017.
Explore the catalog
We hope you will use this tool to explore the catalog of thousands of grants made by SVCF in 2017, as well as 2016 and 2015, discovering along the way the breadth of causes that our donors care about and those that have been designated by our staff and board of directors as having central importance to improving life in Silicon Valley.
The data provided here represents more than $1.2 billion in grants made by Silicon Valley Community Foundation in 2017 from donor advised funds, corporate advised funds, and committee advised funds, as well as from SVCF’s discretionary grantmaking strategies. The data does not include grants from SVCF supporting organizations, employee matching gift funds and a variety of other fund types. Grant amounts shown as negative numbers represent adjustments to prior years’ grants.
