Silicon Valley Community Foundation announces lottery for tickets to televised gubernatorial debate co-hosted by NBC Bay Area

On May 8 at the California Theatre in San Jose, Silicon Valley Community Foundation and NBC Bay Area/KNTV will host  “Decision 2018: The Race for Governor,” a debate among major candidates running for California governor.

The debate will be moderated by Chuck Todd, NBC News’ Political Director and Moderator of Meet the Press. The debate is scheduled to take place from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time, and will be televised live on KNTV NBC Bay Area (Comcast channel 3 and 703 and over-the-air on 11), KSTS Telemundo 48 (Comcast channel 18 and 718 and over-the-air on 48), and simulcast live on KQED radio (FM channel 88.5).

SVCF and NBC Bay Area will announce participating candidates and panel moderators by the end of April.

Because space will be limited and we anticipate high demand, SVCF will hold a lottery for members of the public to obtain tickets to attend the televised debate. Tickets are free.

To enter the lottery, people can go to the event website at events.bizzabo.com/CAgovdebate and submit the entry form. Sign-ups for the lottery will occur between Tuesday, March 27 and Friday, April 27. Those who are selected via lottery to attend will be notified via email on May 1.

Due to security considerations at the debate venue, all lottery winners will be required to provide identification on the night of the debate to receive their tickets. All purses and bags will also be subject to search prior to attendees entering the venue.

Those who qualify for tickets via the lottery will receive a confirmation email with further information about security, timing and code of conduct for attending the debate.

For more information and to enter the lottery, visit the event website at events.bizzabo.com/CAgovdebate.
