Silicon Valley is facing the worst affordable housing crisis in generations – a crisis that requires a community-wide commitment to end homelessness and increase access to affordable housing.
In response to rising public interest in this challenge, on Sept. 2 SVCF convened a panel of experts at the Mountain View headquarters from Destination: Home, SV@HOME, Eden Housing and the Housing Trust Silicon Valley. The panel discussed the depth of the crisis, scalable solutions and the critical role philanthropists can play to ensure everyone has a home. More than 20 interested donors participated in the event.
The convening concluded with the launch of the Donor Circle for Safety Net with a focus on housing. SVCF donors will have an opportunity to participate in this circle and make a philanthropic impact through collective learning and grantmaking. The first donor circle meeting will be held on Tue., Oct. 20 at SVCF, followed by regular meetings that will take place in 2016.
