As a Scholarships Officer, Dean ensures students have the assistance and tools they need on their path to obtaining a higher education and career success.
Prior to joining SVCF, Dean had already dedicated his career to working in the education non-profit sector, supporting students of all grade levels. He began his career in education as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Seattle, mentoring and tutoring middle school students. Later on, served City Year as an Impact Director in San Jose, overseeing the program development, training and implementation for the site's literacy and math tutoring. Most recently, Dean worked as the Academic Affairs Director at College Track in East Palo Alto, overseeing academic program operations and implementation as well as the after-hours middle school programming model.
Dean received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maine at Farmington in Creative Writing and Gender Studies. He continues his relationship with College Track as a volunteer mentor for high school students and supports the development of their personal statements and college applications.
