Silicon Valley Community Foundation is the largest community foundation in the world. As of December 31, 2017, we had $13.5 billion in assets under management and about 2,100 philanthropic funds.
Created through the landmark merger of Peninsula Community Foundation and Community Foundation Silicon Valley, the new community foundation received its IRS exemption in November 2006 and officially launched in January 2007. Since then, SVCF has granted more than $5.6 billion to charities locally, nationally and globally.
We operate on a calendar year.
SVCF's capacity to serve the community is directly tied to its ability to preserve and enhance its financial assets. To ensure that the goals of SVCF continue to be met, the board of directors has developed investment policies and guidelines that provide for prudent asset management. An investment committee, comprised of board members and volunteers knowledgeable in the investment field, oversees the investment activities of SVCF.
