Vice President, Development
Kendra Onishi currently serves as Vice President of Development at Silicon Valley Community Foundation. In her role, she leads the foundation’s strategy to serve as a premier philanthropic partner for charitably minded individuals and corporations. Kendra works with donors and partners to navigate charitable solutions and collaboration opportunities available at SVCF to turn their philanthropic goals into transformational impact. Her expertise includes providing philanthropic strategy and guidance, identifying and establishing charitable funds, structuring unique grantmaking and investment strategies to expand and deepen impact, and accepting complex highly-appreciated gifted assets to fuel philanthropic giving, including acceptance of business interests, private stock, and cryptocurrency.
Prior to joining SVCF, Kendra served as managing consultant for a nonprofit and education advisory services team at BDO USA, LLP, a global accounting and consulting firm. In this role, her responsibilities included providing consulting services to philanthropic clients, nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions across a diverse range of service offerings. This included organizational strategy and restructuring, operational efficiency and effectiveness, program evaluation, effective financial management, regulatory compliance, and grant administration design and support.
Kendra lives in San Jose with her husband, daughter and chihuahua. She enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
