The idea and concept Habitat for Humanity came to life in Romania in 1996 in the small town in the northwest, Beius (Bihor county). Romania was the 50th country in the world Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity Romania became the largest NGO in Romania in the field of social housing, with a mission to eliminate shabby housing and homelessness. We managed to help through our six subsidiaries in Romania, over 16,000 people have a decent place to live, through the construction of new houses and rehabilitation, and other 20,000 through prevention programs and disaster response.
