Silicon Valley Community Foundation Hires Melissa Daar Carvajal as Executive Vice President, Marketing & Communications
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) has named Melissa Daar Carvajal as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications, the organization announced today.
In this role, she will lead the community foundation’s team in its strategic marketing and strategic communications efforts. Daar Carvajal brings to SVCF 20-plus years of experience with local, state and national nonprofits and foundations.

Previously, as the founder of MDC Network, Daar Carvajal assisted such outstanding organizations as The Early Learning Lab, Center for Youth Wellness, Social Interest Solutions, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Thrive Foundation for Youth and the Rogers Family Foundation. Earlier in her career, she played key senior roles at the Stuart Foundation, Fenton Communications, and Full Court Press, as well as doing a stint in county government.
Daar Carvajal is an active public schools advocate and parent at Mission High School in San Francisco, where her sons attend school and her husband teaches music. She also is a senior advisor to PlazaCuba, an international cultural exchange company she founded. She has a bachelor’s degree from Clark University, where she majored in sociology.
