Sylvia Kim

Development Officer

As a development officer, Sylvia is responsible for supporting SVCF’s programs and outreach efforts to build new philanthropic relationships with individuals, corporations and nonprofits. She actively manages and stewards such clients so they can open new funds, initiate complex gift transactions and engage in other forms of charitable giving.

Sylvia joined SVCF with a background in nonprofit administration, development operations and donor portfolio management. Before joining SVCF she served as development officer at Amnesty International USA, where she managed major donor relationships in the New York Metro Region and San Francisco. Prior to this Sylvia worked at Demos, a progressive public policy organization fighting political and economic inequality in the United States and was a community innovation fellow at Re:gender, an organization committed to ending gender inequality and discrimination via research-informed action. Dedicated to education and immigration issues Sylvia currently serves as board member and secretary of The Open Door NJNY, a growing nonprofit empowering immigrants and strengthening communities through educational programs.

Sylvia is a graduate of the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University where she developed her passion for nonprofit work and philanthropy. In her free time Sylvia can be found at the movies with her usual order of popcorn and Raisinets or redecorating her home.
