Thurman V. White, Jr.Thurman retired in 2020 as Chief Executive Officer of Progress Investment Management Company, LLC. Progress is a San Francisco, California-based employee-owned asset manager, and is a leader in investing with diverse public market investment managers across the United States. At its peak, the firm managed over $7 billion in assets in multi-manager strategies for some of the largest and most prestigious U.S. institutional investors.

As Chief Executive Officer, Thurman provided strategic leadership in various areas during his 28-year tenure, including overall investment management, client relationship development and investment manager diligence. He also chaired the Progress board of directors and continues as Managing Member of the firm’s ownership entity. In mid-2020, Progress ended its investment advisory business.

Thurman served on Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s board of directors for eight years, and also chaired the Investment Committee, where he currently as a committee member. He is a licensed attorney, angel investor, and a racial justice and minority business advocate.

Thurman has degrees from Princeton, Stanford and the University of California, Berkeley. Thurman lives in San Mateo, California with his wife Eileen and is the father of three sons with six grandchildren. He is a person of faith and active in his church.
